PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: Eligibility, How to Apply and Check Payment Status
Every four months, the Government of India transfers ₹2,000 directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers. No middlemen, no paperwork to chase, and no office visits. The money is credited directly through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
Since its launch in 2019, the scheme has sent over ₹4.27 lakh crore to farmers across the country. The 22nd instalment alone, released in March 2026, reached more than 9.32 crore farmers.
If you have not registered yet, or if your payments have stopped, this guide explains everything you need to know.
What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central government income support scheme for eligible farmer families.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹6,000 per year, paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The amount is transferred directly to the farmer’s Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The scheme was launched on 24 February 2019 to help farmers manage agricultural expenses such as seeds, fertilizers, labour, and other farming needs. It is not a loan, there is nothing to repay.
Farmers who need credit beyond this support can separately look at the Kisan Credit Card scheme.

Why is Your PM Kisan Payment Not Coming?
If you are registered but have not received your instalment, one of the following issues may be causing the delay:
1. Incomplete e-KYC
This is one of the most common reasons for payment failure. Complete e-KYC through the PM Kisan portal or mobile app.
2. Aadhaar Not Linked to Bank Account
Payments are processed through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. Contact your bank branch if linking is pending.
3. Incorrect Bank Details
An incorrect account number or IFSC code can cause transactions to fail.
4. Name Mismatch
Differences between your Aadhaar details and land records may lead to verification issues.
5. Land Record Issues
Disputes or inconsistencies in land ownership records can temporarily stop payments. Farmers dealing with lease or tenancy arrangements should ensure their documentation clearly reflects the current status.
6. Duplicate Registration
Multiple registrations from the same eligible family may result in rejection or suspension of benefits.
How to Correct These Issues
- Log in to pmkisan.gov.in
- Open Updation of Self Registered Farmer
- Update and verify your details
- For bank-related issues, contact your bank branch
- For land record corrections, contact your local revenue office
